Welcome

May 21–22, 2010
A BioBlitz is a 24-hour inventory of species of plants and animals found in a given area. See our 2010 photos below.

BioBlitz creates awareness and appreciation of biodiversity in our region and beyond. Over 50 regional biologists will be racing the clock to document:
  • scorpions
  • snakes
  • plants
  • beetles
  • birds
  • mushrooms
  • and much more
…all in 24 hours! After that, was time for the final tally. Over 1000 species were documented during the 24-hour event, which is interestingly similar to the number of species discovered in 2009 in Mission Trails Regional Park and in 2008 in Balboa Park.

Thanks to everyone who participated in BioBlitz 2010!
